How to get music from my iPod to my computer?

I've had my iPod touch for about three years now and I've gotten my music from different friends, computers, etc. My iPod won't work with headphones anymore so it's time for a new one. I really don't want to depart with my 1000+ songs though. Does anyone know how to transfer all my music onto my computer from that iPod so it can be put onto a new one?
