Why do Americans look down on Canada?

I mean, whenever i go to the U.S, i always hear nasty jokes about us, and i heard there's alot of american tv shows that make fun of us. Also, americans seem to view us as "our adorable little tag-along brother" or call Canada "so quiet that we forgot they exist". I especially hate it when americans call our beautiful country "a huge chunk of frozen and barren land that calls itself a country".To americans, Canada is all Igloos, hockey, Moose, polar bears and maple syrup. It's true we say "Eh" alot, but that's part of who we are, not as the know-it-alls think it is. To them, it seems like we are a laughing stock. why is it that Americans hate Canada so much? what is it about this awesome country that gives americans a reason to laugh at?
